![]() Rose Shows
So far as we know, the Houston Rose Society was the first rose society in the world to create a class for the entry of EarthKind roses in rose shows. The first rose show with a class for Earthkind Roses was held in Houston, Texas on Saturday, October 29, 2005. ____ Earthkind Roses were entered in that rose show. The winning rose was Pink Pet (formerly called Caldwell Pink), grown by Maria Trevino and Donald Burger of Houston, Texas. This was the first rose show they had ever entered. To see a picture of Maria and Donald, their award-winning rose and the first-ever EarthKind Rose trophy, click here. For other rose societies that are considering having a class for Earthkind Roses, the Houston Rose Society show schedule put the EarthKind roses in the Challenge Class, as Class 23. The exact description they used was: Class 23 Keeper Trophy EARTHKIND™ ROSES: One stem of bloom or blooms, exhibited naturally grown or disbudded, shown at exhibition stage or fully open. This class is only open to those roses which have been officially designated by Texas A&M University as EarthKind™ ROSES. We encourage other Rose Societies to create a class for the exhibiting of EarthKind Roses. This class will bring new exhibitors to your rose shows and will allow EarthKind rose growers to have a chance at winning a trophy at your rose shows.
