Rules for Spring Arrangement Competition

1. A rose or roses must be the dominant flower in all arrangements.
2. The names of all roses (if known) should be listed on the entry tag. Entry tags will be provided.
3. One entry per exhibitor per class, but more than one exhibitor from the garden may enter the same class.
4. Accessories are allowed.
5. Flowers other than roses and dried and/or treated dried plant material are allowed.
6. A card of intent may be included with an arrangement as an explanation of the arranger’s interpretation of the class title.
7. All entries must be the work of the exhibitor.
8. A backdrop may be furnished by the exhibitor.
9. A two-foot wide space will be provided for each arrangement. You can request more space if needed at the time of reservation.
10. To be eligible for ARS judging, arrangements must be in place by 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 5.
11. Arrangements will remain in place until 3:00 p.m. Sunday, April 6, at which time the People’s Choice Award will be announced.
12. Each exhibitor will be responsible for removing his/her arrangements from the display area after 3:00 p.m. on Sunday.
13. Painted or dyed fresh plant materials are not allowed.
14. The use of artificial plant material is not allowed.
15. The decision of the judge is final.

Conformance – 15 points
Naming of roses, other requirements of schedule

Design (5 points per principal) – 30 points
Balance, dominance, contrast, rhythm, proportion, scale

Perfection of the Rose(s) – 30 points
Including condition of other plant material

Creativity and Expressiveness – 15 points
Distinction – 10 points

Uniqueness, sets the design apart, superiority in every respect – includes technical execution/construction
